Anastasia Retelas awaits the WSDA
This time extra police were on hand at Anastasia's garden to enforce
the WSDA spraying warrant.
"The vegetables are harboring gypsy moths,"says WSDA as they spray
Foray 48B on Anatasia's organically grown greens. Yet the spray applicators
missed the top third of the tallest trees in the area. The WSDA, in the
2000 spraying, said that "moth caterpillars will climb to the top of the
trees to eat the new growth there."
Applicators missed most off the high tree foliage in the spraying area.
The hand spraying units had a 35 ft. range and could never reach the high
branches of over 40 trees in the area. This untreated foliage could provide
an ideal feeding ground for the moth caterpillars. Several observers pointed
this error out to the WSDA during the spraying, but there were no attempts
to correct the problem. Area residents are angry:
"The WSDA put us through all this hell and now are doing such a sloppy job, it's sickening and a waste of money.""It makes you think there really are NO moths here."
